Meet Shealen!
Shealen has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient mental health settings, providing support for concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and relationship challenges. In her previous role as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), she had extensive experience working one-on-one with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum, implementing individualized behavior intervention plans, teaching communication and daily living skills, fostering emotional regulation, and helping clients build meaningful social and adaptive skills. This specialized training has given her a strong understanding of behavioral and developmental needs while allowing her to collaborate closely with families and interdisciplinary treatment teams. Her combined experience in behavioral therapy and mental health counseling enables her to tailor treatment to each client’s unique strengths, challenges, and goals, creating a supportive environment where clients can develop confidence, resilience, and lasting skills for everyday life.
Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based interventions, Shealen helps develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, and work toward lasting emotional well-being. She recognizes that every individual has a unique story and works alongside clients to identify their personal strengths while helping them navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
Shealen is also expanding her clinical expertise through specialized training in play therapy and enjoys incorporating developmentally appropriate, creative interventions when working with children. She values partnering with parents and caregivers to foster growth both inside and outside of the therapy room, recognizing the important role families play in a child’s emotional development.
