Meet Shivangi!

Shivangi  (pronounced Shiv-on-gee)  is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University with a focus on healthcare. She is also a Certified Child-Centered Play Therapist through UNT’s Center for Play Therapy, reflecting advanced training in the child-centered approach to supporting children and families. Her specialties include play therapy, filial therapy, parent consults, and adult and adolescent counseling.

Her passion is play therapy, as she truly believes children are more than capable of expressing themselves in an unconditionally accepting environment.has extensive training in play therapy modalities and enjoys working with children and teens. Play therapy is a specialized approach that focuses on helping children express their thoughts and feelings through play, rather than through words alone. Children often find it difficult to say their emotions directly, especially if they’re experiencing stress, trauma, or other challenges. By engaging in play, children can express themselves more freely and explore their feelings in a non-threatening way.

With experience and knowledge in child development, she also works alongside parents to provide encouragement and education to best support their child.

In addition, Shivangi enjoys seeing teens. She provides a nonjudgmental space where they can talk about what’s on their mind, whether it’s stress from school, conflicts with friends or family, or any other challenges they may be facing. She will listen, offer empathy, and help gain insight into their emotions and behaviors.

Born in Mumbai, India and raised in Texas, she began her counseling career doing play therapy with Children’s Medical Center as an intern, working with children with terminal and chronic illness. She later expanded her counseling services working for a partial day programming at an acute psychiatric facility. She then transitioned to working in behavioral health corporate setting ranging from case reviews to quality management.
